E-girls, COLORFUL POP
Stumbled across this while exploring music outside my usual zone of anime songs. As someone familiar with YMO’s “RYDEEN”, which this song samples, I have mixed feelings about it. It kind of makes me sad that the soul of the song (as I perceive it, at least) – that is, the sense of constant running, sweeping motion across a landscape – didn’t carry over very much. That said, I do appreciate what this version brings to the table. I see what they were going for, with the stronger and heavier Latin club beat, the wistfulness of the night’s end, the slower heat, and so on, and I suppose the bit of melody they took from RYDEEN lends itself to that purpose just fine. In short, a nice picture, but one best considered completely separate from YMO even if it really isn’t.
I was originally going to try preserving the rhyme in the chorus, but it seems to be beyond my capabilities. Hopefully it’s less rigid in structure than usual, though.
