Haha, I was just going through my email, and I just realized that I completely missed this comment – I didn’t even know it was a request when I decided to do it. I’d just watched all of the episodes that had been released at the time, and I came to love the song on my own.

My take on “pabiyaca, sylves, theia” is that they are probably feminine takes on goddesses and spirits (“thea” is, in Greek, the feminine of “theos”, God and “sylves” sound close to the English word “sylph”, a mythological creature (According to the French Wikipedia, they are sylphs in FF IV).

Anyways, this could be a stretch, but after watching a ton of anime, I came to realize that the Japanese like to use and abuse various names of spirits and god(desse)s, transform them and let their artistic licence lead the way.
