Itsuki Koizumi (c.v. Daisuke Ono), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya New Character Song Vol. 4: Itsuki Koizumi

Just a Secret
Lyrics: Aki Hata
Composition / Arrangement: Akihiko Yamaguchi
Vocals: Itsuki Koizumi (c.v. Daisuke Ono)

There is a substitute for myself,
But the things I can think of as unique
Move my heart.

While I merely connect the gaps
Within the brittle, fragile time,
The dawn is further away than the moon.

When I want to smile without saying the reason,
My worries are deep in my chest.

So that the sun rises again, so that we can conceal someone,
Read the story that people added to.
Even after a storm passes, the world’s heartbeat, as it does now,
Will mark tomorrow’s passage.
As I fell asleep, I prayed to stay with the world.

I don’t particularly dislike this place.
I bear my trivial discomfort
At being chosen to protect.

In the memories that might disappear,
My true face comes out a little.
Loneliness and yearning are the same.

When I joke around, ignoring the angry face,
I feel the pain that leads to misery.

When their feelings become stronger, when they hurt someone,
People think back on it all, including the foolishness,
And it becomes something precious, doesn’t it? I think that fits
The universal language of this world.
Until I wake up, I’ll keep my secrets in place of my heart.

So that the sun rises again, so that we can conceal someone,
Read the story that people added to.
Even after a storm passes, the world’s heartbeat, as it does now,
Will mark tomorrow’s passage.
As I fell asleep, I prayed to stay with the world.

眠りに落ちて僕は祈った stay with the world

眠りに落ちて僕は祈った stay with the world

  1. Are you a native Japanese speaker? Is that how you translate things so beautifully?
Can you also translate Tsuruya’s “Matsuri te, Matsuri Irasha~” and and Kyon’s ” Homo Sapiens Rhapsody”, please?
    Thank you.

    • I’m not a native Japanese speaker. It’s just that when I translate, I try to put myself in the shoes of the song’s speaker, and this approach lends itself very well to character songs.

I am actually planning to translate those two already. Good to know that they’re wanted. Just a note though, “Homo Sapiens Rhapsody” will probably take quite a bit more time – deciphering all of the Kyon babble and all.
