School Food Punishment – Kaeru

School Food Punishment, c/w UN-GO OP How to go

Part of the School Food Punishment lyrics project.

A note: the song uses an abbreviated katakana form of “platform” – ホーム (hoomu). What else does that sound like? I’m not sure if that was intentional, but I like to think that it is.

Going Back
lyrics by Uchimura Yumi
music by School Food Punishment
arranged by Eguchi Ryou

The train simply runs on, carrying me along.
It all goes far away – the crowds of people and the exhausted yesterday.

The doors open up, and the wind dances in.
I breathe in the cold air and start to remember.
This city of mine where time seems to be stopped
Will come into view soon on the other side of the window.

When I line up the memories like so many paintings,
I know the way home.
Let me hear you say “Welcome back” just like you once did.

The inside of my heart is filled up with rushing, hectic days.
I’m losing sight of what comes next for my dreams;
Only outlines remain.

Moving closer as I leave,
The train passes by.
Outside the window is the unchanging scenery.
The railway tracks branch out –
Where and how did I go wrong?

With all my heart, I inhaled the nostalgic wind.
I want to wash it all away
And picture a different tomorrow one more time.
The ordinary things are starting to be ordinary no more.
Before that happens, call me to a stop
And pull my shaking heart closer to you.

The doors open up, and the wind dances in.
I breathed in the cold air, and my heart calmed down.
In this city of mine where time seems to be stopped,
From the platform I stepped onto, I could see tomorrow.

When I line up the memories like so many paintings,
I know the way home.
Even with my eyes closed, I think I can go.
No matter how many times I stumble, I’m sure I’ll be fine,
Because I have a place to return to.
Let me say “I’m home” just like I once did.

music by School Food Punishment
arranged by 江口亮

  1. Everything school food punishment produces is just an amazing work of art.

For two years I’ve started taking Japanese because of this band.

  2. I can’t find Going Back. Where can I hear it?
