Owari no Chronicle – regalia

TEAM LEVIATHAN CHRONICLE, Owari no Chronicle image song, GET SET; collected in AHEAD

Requested by McWhite.

Copy/pasting disclaimer: I have yet to read Owari no Chronicle (seriously, it is a huge and complicated series), but I intend to someday, so if I missed anything due to lack of knowledge of the source, I will come back here and fix.

For this song in particular, the structure was pretty tricky. Warning: a few sentences span multiple verses, in case it isn’t clear.

Even with my lack of knowledge of the novel’s story, even though I’m not totally sure I interpreted everything correctly, I found the lyrics quite beautiful.

Note: At several points in the song, namely the first line of the first chorus, 未来 (mirai, “future”) is sung as あす (asu, “tomorrow”).

Error, a road where you do not look back for the sound of any calling voice.
I can hear a shout assembling the fragments, coming from far away.

As my heart runs and overtakes even the flowing wind,
I wait beyond the end for the horizon.

With no fear of being hurt,
Continuing to run
To the destination of the promise, embracing pain,
I asked

For the future that should be realized, for where the past that was locked away is.
Where is the answer that will awaken us?
The footsteps that echo resoundingly mark the beginning
So that we can meet one more time.

On the road of no return, with empty hands,
Following the light that leads us to where we aimed to go.

With no fear of wishing,
Without forgetting confusion,
Continuing to run, embracing pain,
I asked

For the future that should be realized, for where the past that was locked away is.
Where is the answer that will awaken us?
I overcome hesitation and engrave my will to resist
In my heart, together with my pain.

The passing voices echoed with more certainty than anything:
Bring the answer of awakening here.
At the place of the promise, I sing the song of beginning.
I will not lose it again.

For the future that should be realized, for where the past that was locked away is.
Where is the answer that will awaken us?
By these connected hands, we pledge the location of the end
So that we can meet one more time. Now,

Let’s go.
