Review time again. I like the format I used last year, so let’s stick with that.
In total, the blog received 137,176 views, way up from 107,358 in 2012.
Ooe Senri (covered by Makihara Noriyuki, Hata Motohiro, etc) – Rain (January 22, 2012)
Kotonoha no Niwa ending theme (Hata Motohiro version)
Once again, most-viewed post of the year becomes most-viewed post ever. The song is great – I fell in love with it the moment I heard it in the trailer for Kotonoha no Niwa – but I didn’t expect it to outstrip everything else like this. First post of mine to break 10000 in a year.
Girls Dead Monster – Ichiban no Takaramono (Yui ver.) (June 26, 2010)
Angel Beats! insert song
It climbs up one spot every year. Still feeling the feels. ;_;
Dropped down considerably from #1 in 2012, but still strong.
ELISA – Soba ni Iru yo (June 12, 2013)
Kakumeiki Valvrave ending theme 2
Valvrave! For some reason, this one 4chan post that linked to me got reposted everywhere, so this one got pretty high. One thing I like about Valvrave is that it’s really good at using opening/ending themes as insert songs – it always feels perfect for the situation, and the situation in turn gives the lyrics new meaning. Marie and ‘kioku’… ;A; WHY SUNRISE
Up in overall views but down three spots. After repeated listening, this is still one of my favorite nano.RIPE songs, second only to maybe Yumeji.
Really like the synths in this one, along with pretty much everything about the song. For some reason, most of the Kuribayashi Minami songs I’ve heard never really clicked with me, but this one did.
T.M.Revolution x Mizuki Nana – Preserved Roses (May 12, 2013)
Kakumeiki Valvrave opening theme 1
UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ
Interesting case here. Not sure why this one climbed up; there were a few random daily spikes near the end of the year. Nice, peaceful song.
Would probably be in my top anime song list for the year, if I were to make one. That triplet feel is beautiful. The lyrics were pretty hard to make out, though; I tried to translate by ear but didn’t because I knew it would be totally off.
Still hanging in there, which is curious for a non-anime song. I actually don’t listen to this song that much anymore… because it makes me too emotional. >_>
Other notes: other Valvrave ranked pretty high, but sadly, Boku ja nai (the one whose translation I feel best about) was the lowest of them. Tumblr caught wind of school food punishment’s Percentage during the year, so that got a nice boost. Ano Hana and SFP were significant draws as usual. Gekka from Hataraku Maou-sama! and Wareta Ringo from Shinsekai yori were two notable newcomers that didn’t make the top.
So, there’s the 2013 recap. More actual blogposts may follow this one, or they might not – I always decide I should, but I usually don’t, so who knows. In general, I still feel like I’m just kind of crawling along, but my overall output has improved greatly from previous slumps, so I guess I’ll be sticking around.
