Yanagi Nagi – helvetica

Yanagi Nagi, euaru

There was some pretty interesting stuff going on in the lyrics sheet for this song. I’ve done my best to preserve this in text form.

helvetica
Lyrics & Music: yanaginagi
Arrangement, Programming & All Other Instruments: yanaginagi, Masahiro Tobinai (agehasprings)

Specks floating in air,
I move upstream on the stardust.
The oxygen thins, and I’ve forgotten the name of
The fallen picked flower; I’ve thrown away all interest.
I don’t know, I can’t read the characters anymore.

If I were to love,
Tell me, what would come back in response?

The correct words don’t remain
Anywhere; they’re no longer there.
Lined up beautifully with uniform spacing, helvetica…
Present time, gone insane…

I looked at the flower resting on the bright windowsill.
If I created a shadow with my hand,
I wonder, would it instantly wither away?
It’s because I think
About things like that.

If I were to love,
Tell me, what would come back in response?

The correct words don’t remain
Anywhere; they’re no longer there.
Lined up beautifully with uniform spacing, helvetica…
I’m going insane.

beloved losing them
    don’t remain anywhere
  words accumulated
    don’t remain
dispersed even the color of flower
 vivid forgetting lined up
no longer exists my own emotions either
         uniform spacing
  beautifully helvetica
       insane

Yes, the last verse was jumbled up like that in the booklet. Unscrambled:

The beloved words don’t remain
Anywhere; I’m losing them.
My own accumulated emotions don’t remain
Either, all dispersed.
I’m forgetting even the color of
The vivid flower; it no longer exists.
Lined up beautifully with uniform spacing, helvetica…
Gone insane…

Romaji of last verse scrambled:

itoshii ushinau
      nokoranai doko ni mo
  kotoba sae tsumikasaneta
      nokoranai
chiridjiri ni hana no iro mo
 azayaka na wasureteku narabu
mou nai jibun no kanjou mo
           toukankaku
  utsukushiku helvetica
         kuruidashita mama

Kanji of last verse unscrambled:

愛しい言葉さえどこにも
残らない 失う
積み重ねた自分の感情も
残らない 散り散りに
鮮やかな花の色も
忘れてく もう無い
等間隔美しく並ぶhelvetica
狂い出したまま

  1. I love this song, I love this album, I definitely love this artist (hell I’ve made a rule to myself to watch anything that Nagi is related to) and at this moment I kinda love you for translating her songs so carefully. Thanks :)
