Zankyou no Terror (Ozaki Yuuki / Kanno Youko) – Trigger

Yuuki Ozaki (from Galileo Galilei), Zankyou no Terror OP

It’s interesting to see Yuuki Ozaki outside of Galileo Galilei; as we’ve seen before with FLAT and now with Trigger, we’re getting some more flexibility in tone and pretty fascinating aesthetics that we haven’t seen from the full band.

Trigger
Lyrics: Yuuki Ozaki
Composition: Yoko Kanno
Arrangement: Yoko Kanno

Ejected from the world, we were on the edge of an unbelievably thin needle.
Catching my balance, my fingertips touched you, and I learned that I wasn’t alone.
Bestowed upon us was only a single crooked wing…

In the time between birth (and death…) and death, what do you want to do? I ask.
You seem just like an angel, the way you laugh.
In the heat of summer, (distorted,) we exit through a gap in the mass of burning buildings,
And we fall. At the close, I’ll pull the trigger.

After that, winter comes, and snow covers everything.

Maybe I will never receive anything in return; I don’t at all believe that gain follows loss.
Even so, at the place of furthest, utter end, its exists in equal measure for even us.
I cannot stay here, so at least…

In the time between birth (and death…) and death, what am I capable of doing? I ask.
To me, you now give no answer and simply laugh.
At the end of the dream (at the close), like a butterfly that has caught fire,
For but a single moment, I shine, and seize the clouded eyes of the world.
Let us seize everything.

In the time between birth (and death…) and death, I’d like to try living on with you.
It is something not painted anything like the legends.
Connecting summers (to summers,) we exit through the gap between history and spiral,
And we fall to hell. At the close, I’ll pull the trigger.
And so we will turn to dust.

After that, winter comes, and snow covers everything.
From there, ever on, winter will come, and the snow speaks of everything.

  1. This song is refreshing as is excellent, to say the least. Lyrics portraits both a monotone and harsh reality, a different kind of love story and a tragic-yet-necessary ending. I like the contrast between the upbeat percussion-given tempo and the melodious soft-slow vocals, complementing each other with strings. It’s relaxing and very touching…
