【Lyrics Translation】  la la larks, December 2018 tour theme song

See: la la larks lyrics project

This song was originally released on September 19, 2018, via various online streaming services; I managed to find it well enough using Spotify with a Japanese VPN. The band actually sent out a call for fans to make music videos for the song, which were played at one of their concerts; the playlist can be seen here.

I couldn’t find an official transcription of the lyrics past the first chorus, so I translated the verses that follow it by ear [=耳コピ]; I feel okay about most of it, but as usual for these cases, accuracy is not 100% guaranteed.

The days won’t come back again.
The sighs are pooled at the bottom of the night.
We’re standing on top of those, you know,
And that’s how we can prepare for tomorrow,

With the thought that our patchworked present time isn’t so bad.

I’m waiting for the morning. Even if a stable day might never come,
The thing I want to believe in is there within the night.
Clap your hands, because my ears are open and listening.
I’m still searching for the light.

They’ve dissolved and slipped into the days,
Those youthful dreams – no traces to be found.
We are ever-changing creatures,
Sometimes so much that it’s kind of cruel.

If we could stay as innocent as we were when we were born,
We’d grow detached from even fairy tales, but at least…

I’m waiting for the morning. Even if a stable day might never come,
The thing I want to believe in is there within the night.
Let me hear your voice one more time.
I’m still searching for the light.

No matter how much of a view I try to take in, I can’t bring the world into focus.
No matter how much time passes, I can’t read the sky.
Even if I can’t go too far, wishes are born.
Once you’ve stepped across the night and stretched out your hand, wait for the wind.

Don’t unravel me – connect me.

I’m waiting for the morning. Even if a stable day might never come,
The thing I want to believe in is there within the night.
Clap your hands, because my ears are open and listening.
I’m searching for you again.
