Gunslinger Stratos (GARNiDELiA) – MIRAI

GARNiDELiA, Gunslinger Stratos ED

Note: just before the last two choruses, the word ‘reborn’ does not have an explicit subject. I’ve translated it assuming ‘I’, since that’s how it tends to go in songs when there’s unclear context, but ‘if you are reborn’ and ‘if we are reborn’ are possibilities, for example, and given the tie-in, you never know how the meaning might change with time…

FUTURE
Lyrics: MARiA
Composition: toku
Arrangement: GARNiDELiA

You always have that bad habit
Of bearing everything by yourself and saying that you’re alright.
That part of you will never change,
So today, as always, our hands are linked in the quiet.

Even if the world casts you out,
I’ll be there by your side,
So you don’t have to be afraid – open the doors.

GARNiDELiA – PiNK CAT

GARNiDELiA, c/w Gunslinger Stratos ED MIRAI

PiNK CAT
Lyrics & Vocals: MARiA
Music & Instruments: toku

The kiss from yesterday
Still has control over my heart.
That’s a sneaky way to do things.
If that’s the way you want it…

I dislike that relaxed face.
There’s no way I can let that by.
I’ll captivate you.
I’ll grab on, and I won’t let go.

Gunslinger Stratos (Ayano Mashiro) – vanilla sky

Ayano Mashiro, Gunslinger Stratos OP

Originally posted TV-size translation by ear on April 4; updated to full version (based on Uta-Net’s transcription) on April 21.

vanilla sky
Vocals: Ayano Mashiro
Lyrics: meg rock
Composition: masahiro mizoguchi
Arrangement: toku (GARNiDELiA)

Now, I’ll eclipse the stars in the night sky,
And look, color fills the world.
Our future
Depends on us, right now, in this moment.

The one who stares back at me from the other side of the mirror
Is a fragment of me that I don’t know yet.

I’d thought that I had nothing left to lose,
But for a single moment, my legs froze up again.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai. – secret base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~

Honma Meiko (CV. Kayano Ai), Anjou Naruko (CV. Tomatsu Haruka), Tsurumi Chiriko (CV. Hayami Saori); Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai. ED

So this song was originally by ZONE in 2001. It has since been covered several times, including for “Kyou no 5-2.” I translate it here as the ending theme for AnoHana because this is my first time hearing it. I really, really like the AnoHana versions; the “Memento mori” version, in particular, is so beautifully heartbreaking. I think it’s the drums.

secret base ~What You Gave Me~
Lyrics / Composition: Machida Norihiko
Arrangement: Toku (10 years after Ver.); Furukawa Honpo (Memento mori Ver.)
Vocals: Honma Meiko (CV. Kayano Ai), Anjou Naruko (CV. Tomatsu Haruka), Tsurumi Chiriko (CV. Hayami Saori)

The end of the summer with you, our dreams for the future,
Our grand hopes – I won’t forget.
In this month of August ten years later,
I believe that we can meet again.
My best memories…

That sudden moment when we first met… At the intersection on the way home,
You raised your voice and said, “Let’s go home together.”
I was shy, and while I hid my face behind my bag,
In truth, I was so, so happy.
