I’m still not sure why this had to be done.

TL Note: ‘Renga‘ refers to a particular form of poetry that is composed collaboratively, with stanzas by different authors linked together in turn – given the genre of Taimanin Asagi, you can imagine the symbolism here.

EDIT: When I posted these lyrics, I, in no way, shape, or form, expected this to become my most popular translation.

At 2:00 in the morning, when the moon is invisible,
The human world is covered in darkness.
Unknown ninjas are hiding.
When will the night end?

Even if I don’t wish for it, (fighting, surviving piece of flesh)
The blood that runs through this body pulls in fate.

Since when has this sorrow continued?
(hatred invites hatred; as long as there is good, evil won’t end)
Since when have I been feeling this pain?
(you can’t escape; you’re just a piece of flesh that takes this)

Within these walls where the sun doesn’t hit,
In this other world, darkness gathers.
People toy with the soul.
When will the rain clear up?

“Love can make us stronger.” (human existence is weak)
I believe that I can cut off this disordered fate.

Since when has this suffering continued?
(hatred invites hatred; as long as there is good, evil won’t end)
Since when have I been feeling this pleasure?
(you can’t escape; you exist only to take this)

Nothing can be seen clearly within the chaos.
This world is naturally a game of killing time.
Everything is one moment, sink or swim – dance, dance!
Only going by instinct,
The beasts continue to devour pleasure, those evil spirits of mountains and rivers.
Right, your position is just to take this!
